Room by room
One floor through the whole main level
Updated September 2026
Running one floor through the main level is the change that makes a house feel bigger. It also has to be planned as one job, not four rooms.
We install luxury vinyl plank and carpet across Northeast Ohio, including Independence.
Plan the direction first
Plank generally runs the long dimension of the space or in line with the main sightline as you enter. Once you commit, that direction carries through every connected room, so it is worth standing in the doorway and deciding deliberately.
Expansion gaps are not optional
Floating floors need a gap at every wall and vertical obstruction so the floor can move with temperature and humidity. Long uninterrupted runs sometimes need a transition even where you would rather not have one. Ask about that before layout, not after.
Where transitions still belong
Doorways to rooms getting a different surface, the top of a staircase, and thresholds to unheated spaces all still need a proper transition. Quarter round and transitions are listed as line items in your estimate so you can see every one of them in advance.
Measure everything at once
Whole-level projects should be measured in one visit so material comes from consistent production. Ordering more of the same line months later risks a visible shade difference between batches.
