Common Flooring Questions
What homeowners across Northeast Ohio ask us before they book. If your question is not here, call and ask.
Estimates and scheduling
You pick a day, we come to your home with sample boards for luxury vinyl plank and carpet, you see the options in your own light next to your own furniture, we measure, and you get one fixed price before we leave. There is no showroom trip and no waiting for a quote to arrive later.
The in-home estimate is free and there is no obligation. You keep the written quote whether or not you schedule the work.
Use the scheduling form on this site or call (216) 245-2341. The form takes three short steps: what you are replacing, roughly how many rooms, and how to reach you.
It depends on the material. When what you pick is in stock, we can usually confirm your install date right at the estimate. When it has to be ordered for your job, you get a firm window and a confirmed date as soon as the material arrives. We will not guess at a date before we have measured the rooms.
Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Saturday, 9am to 3pm. Calls and form submissions outside those hours are returned the next business day.
No. Measuring happens during the free in-home estimate.
Luxury vinyl plank
Luxury vinyl plank has a waterproof wear surface, which is why it is a common choice for kitchens, basements, and homes with kids and pets. The floor system as a whole is not a moisture barrier, so standing water, unresolved subfloor moisture, and leaks still need to be addressed. Coverage varies by product and its written manufacturer warranty.
In most cases yes, provided the subfloor is sound and dry. We check the subfloor during the in-home estimate and tell you plainly if it needs work before installation.
We bring good, better, and best sample boards to your home so you can compare them side by side in the room they will be installed in.
Yes. Furniture Moved, Included covers eligible beds, dressers, couches, chairs, and tables. We move them out of the work area and put them back when the floor is finished. Tear-out and haul-away are also included when listed in your written estimate.
Carpet
Pad is included when it is listed on your written estimate, and it is listed as its own line item so you can see the grade you are getting.
Yes. Whole-home projects are measured and quoted together in a single visit, so you get one number rather than two separate quotes.
Bedrooms, family rooms, and stairs, where softness and sound matter more than a hard surface.
Stairs
Yes. We do plank tread and riser wraps, carpet on boxed and open-side stairs, and runners. Stairs are quoted per step at your in-home estimate and can be added to any flooring project.
Stairs take far more labor per square foot than an open room, and the count and construction of the staircase decide the work. Quoting per step keeps the number honest instead of buried in a square-foot average.
Pay Over Time
Yes. Monthly payment options with $0 down are available, subject to credit approval. We show the payment next to the total at your in-home estimate so you can decide with the real number in front of you.
The Quote Is the Invoice: the written estimate is a fixed price for the work and materials it describes. If you add rooms or we uncover a concealed condition such as damaged subfloor, we price the change in writing before it happens.
Done Means Done Guarantee™
The Done Means Done Guarantee™ brings four written promises together: Lifetime Installation Warranty, The Quote Is the Invoice, Same Crew, Same Standard, and Furniture Moved, Included. The flooring also carries its manufacturer's written warranty, which varies by product. Coverage details and exclusions are described in the warranty and project terms on this site.
Same Crew, Same Standard means we plan for the same crew to work your project from tear-out through the final walk-through. If a crew change is unavoidable, another qualified Fathom crew member completes the work to the same standard.
Yes. Fathom Flooring, LLC is licensed and insured, and proof is available on request.
Service area
We are based in Cleveland, Ohio and work across Portage, Summit, southern Cuyahoga, Medina, and northern Stark counties. If your town is not listed on the service area page, call and ask.
No. The samples come to your home, which is where the flooring has to look right.
