How to prepare for your estimate
Five minutes of prep makes the visit shorter and the number more accurate. None of it involves moving furniture.
Clear a path, not the room
We measure over furniture. You do not need to empty anything before the estimate. A walkway into each room we are quoting is plenty.
Have every decision maker there
You get your number before we leave, so anyone who has a say in the decision should be in the house. It saves you a second visit.
Know which rooms are in
A rough list is enough. Bedrooms, hallway, stairs, basement. We measure what you point at and can quote rooms separately so you can stage the work.
Pull up anything you have noticed
Soft spots, squeaks, a floor that slopes, past water. Tell us at the start. It affects the subfloor plan and we would rather find it now than after tear-out.
Think about light
We bring sample boards and lay them in the actual room. Daylight and your own bulbs change color more than people expect, so we look at both.
What happens in the house

- 03You compare samples in your own light.
- 04We write the scope, line by line.
- 05You get one fixed price for that scope, plus payment options, before we leave.
Estimate questions
- How long does the in-home estimate take?
- Most take under an hour. Whole-home projects with stairs take a little longer because we measure every riser and tread.
- Do I have to decide that day?
- No. The written estimate is yours to keep. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Do I need to move furniture first?
- Not for the estimate. Furniture moving for the installation itself is discussed during the walkthrough and listed in the written scope when we handle it.
- What do I get at the end of the visit?
- A written scope, one fixed price for that scope, monthly payment options if you want them, and a start date and duration if you are ready to book.
